FAQ

  • Do you have a pricelist?

Yes, prices are available as a guide on our Booking page.
Please note these are a starting price, and we use weight, height, coat condition, and behaviour to factor in how much time and product your dog’s groom may take.

  • Can I bring my dog without an appointment?

No, bookings are essential to how we run our days. There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly, and any walk in enquiries take our attention away from the pups currently with us.

  • How often do I have to bring my dog?

Honestly, it depends on the breed and coat type, but all dogs deserve grooming and they deserve it to be a normal occurrence for them, not a punishment.

Monthly grooming whether it be a full groom, a wash up, or a tidy, is the ideal frequency. This is especially important for puppies or dogs with behavioural considerations.

We will suggest a frequency we believe is best for your dog.

  • What is our ideal client?

Our ideal client is someone dedicated to looking after their dog and plans for this.

They understand when their pet needs a bit more support with some “Extra Care”, or a behavioural groom add-on due to some aversions they may have.

They keep their dog on a 4-6 weekly schedule and notify us with plenty of time if any changes are necessary to the schedule. They also understand that as a small service-based business, we are doing our best to keep the quality of care high.

  • Are there any breeds you don't or won't groom?

No, Elle is very experienced and has a passion for working with fear aggressive or high intensity dogs like working dogs. As the owner of a GSD and of horses, Elle is passionate about creating boundaries for her doggy clients to be able to safely enjoy their time at the salon within.

Our main concern is for the safety of all dogs and staff, so if your dog has a history of behavioural considerations, please ensure you make this known at the earliest point possible, and seek advice on creating a booking.

  • I need help with learning how to brush my dog properly. Can you help?

Absolutely! We have started seminars for small groups of clientelle, usually on a Saturday afternoon.

We are also able to offer one-on-one classes, but highly recommend attending a seminar first.

Check out our “Seminars” or “Classes” page for upcoming events!

  • I just want to bring my dog when I think they need grooming, is this ok?

If you have a dog that needs haircuts, we may not be the best salon for you. We cater for maintenance or ongoing grooming. Those not on a regular grooming schedule may incur a 10%-20% surcharge for the extra work, wear and tear, products, time, and expertise to work with a dog that doesn’t understand what is happening.

Regular maintenance at a salon is much kinder than waiting until your dog is overgrown, and prevents issues like painfully long nails, matting, poor hygiene due to overgrown groin and bottom areas, overgrown eyes with painful crusts from eye discharge, and the list goes on.

Elle Grooms is dedicated to clients who want to see their dog living their most comfortable life. It is not our job to undo lack of care or neglect, it is extremely hard on our minds and our bodies to see this.
Neglecting your pet’s care also significantly increases the risk to grooming them, for behavioural and above-mentioned reasons.

We are always happy to re-educate owners and get pups on grooming schedules everyone is happy with. We provide different pricing options for this reason, and love being able to make a difference and create a bond with your dog.

  • My dog gets very itchy, can you help?

We can absolutely help. Our pharmaceutical grade range of products by Iv San Bernard are perfect for sensitive skin.
We recommend a consistent schedule for consistent results.
Elle is currently on her journey to become a qualified pet esthetician, to best be able to help those dogs with skin allergies.

We love doing spa treatments and have a menu available in salon, or on our Add On’s via the Online Booking Portal.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

As a small appointment only salon, late cancellations and no shows have a big impact.

We have a 72hr cancellation policy to give us the best possible chance of filling your appointment. We provide a 3 week reminder, and 7 day confirmation and 6 day confirmation messages.

These messages are a courtesy only, and something we offer as an additional cost to the business.

Of course, emergencies happen and we will be as lenient as possible. Our staff come to work regardless, and need to be paid for their time. Please don’t take this out of Elle’s pocket.

Please have the courtesy to let us know ASAP if you need to reschedule. We will prioritise looking after clients that look after us.

  • My Dog had a bad experience, can you help?

We will do everything we can to help you and your pup to have a safe grooming experience.

We have a “Meet and Greet” service available for anyone to book on our online portal, and would love to meet you all and discuss what we can do to help your dog feel better.

You can pop notes on your bookings, as well as on your profile for us to see when booking.

  • I'm booking online - do I have to answer all the questions?

We get it, it’s a bit of information to pop in! The good news is that once it’s in the system, you’ll have a profile created via your mobile number, and when you go to book your next appointment, all you have to do is create a password and then you’re in.

Things like your dog’s coat type and weight help the system figure out what services would be best for you. All of our services have a description available, but you’re always welcome to text us for clarification.

  • I have a new puppy, when should I bring them to you?

We love puppies! Elle specialises in starting puppies with confidence and safety in mind.
As soon as your vet has let you know your pup has been appropriately vaccinated, your puppy can come in for an appointment.

Make sure you bring them in as early as possible to start the socialisation and desentisation process while they’re in their most curious stage of development so we can make grooming fun.

We’re also starting a Puppy School with High Drive Canine dog training, so keep an eye out on our “Classes” or “Programs” page!

  • How often should I get my dog groomed?

Most fluffy or double coated dogs are best looked after on a 6 weekly schedule
